In the current business environment, the HR managers of businesses in Ghana as well as the leadership have realized how important the performance levels of employees are. Employee performance largely impacts the success of an organization. High employee performance leads to improved efficiency, reduced employee turnover, and a higher level of productivity.


Moreover, by ensuring that employee performance is improved, kept high, and strengthened, an organization is working to improve its chances of success in competitive industries. 1. ADOPT CASCADING GOALS

When organizations effectively adopt cascading goals strategies, employee performance will peak. 3. RECOGNISE AND REWARD EMPLOYEES

An extremely effective way to improve employee performance within an organization is through recognizing and rewarding employees. When employees receive recognition and rewards for the hard work they do, employees are likely to work even harder to attain the same or even more recognition and rewards from management. Furthermore, it is extremely positive for the organizational culture to recognize and reward employees as it helps build trust, satisfaction, and further motivation throughout the organization. Therefore, when managers effectively recognize and reward employees a corresponding improvement to employee performance is likely to be seen.


Another effective way to improve employee performance within an organization is through HR managers effectively utilizing a Human Resource Information System (HRIS). When HR managers utilize an HRIS they are able to effectively gain access to technology that allows the collection of data that may provide analytical information useful for management decision making to effectively make choices on how to improve employee performance. For example, a pulse survey may be sent out to employees within an organization asking about how they are managing the difficulty of tasks currently, and through the responses gained managers may identify ways to improve employee’s ability to handle tasks.


5. ENSURE STRONG COMMUNICATION

Employee performance can further be effectively improved by ensuring there is strong communication throughout the organization. Specifically, ensuring strong communication may improve employee performance whereby employees are able to fully understand the tasks they are completing effectively. If employees have any questions or issues with the activities that they are completing, employees will see through a strong communication system their problems may be solved and clarified effectively. Furthermore, strong communication systems allow managers to align employees effectively which encourages performance to dramatically increase as organizational goals may be achieved faster.


6. TRAIN AND DEVELOP EMPLOYEES

To effectively improve employee performance managers may consider effectively training and developing employees within the organization. Training and developing employees are the most obvious way to effectively improve employee performance. This is largely due to managers being able to provide employees with a platform to effectively develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities to work more effectively in completing related tasks at hand. Likewise, through training and developing these skills, employees can attain the ability to effectively perform more successfully when completing organizational tasks at hand.


7. ENCOURAGE TEAMWORK

Employee performance may be effectively improved within an organization through managers ensuring that they encourage teamwork. When organizational managers encourage teamwork, employees are able to work together to achieve and meet organizational goals more effectively and efficiently. This is due to the sharing of knowledge, resources, skills, and tools being accessed through employees working together. Moreover, teams are able to effectively develop a culture of trust and encourage individuals who are struggling to perform or complete work activities assistance in getting the job done. In turn, through encouraging teamwork, managers are able to effectively improve employee performance.
